Japan's Megwin TV Tests iPad Case

The popular indie Japanese comic performance art trio known as Megwin TV (think WTF Jackass in Japan with a low budget) tests a "bowling-ball proof" iPad case:

On average, these wacky and funny guys produce about 30 short clips each month and also do live stage performances! To keep up with their frantic pace, you should visit their official website or subscribe to their Twitter account (Japanese only).

PETA Attacks Nintendo's Super Mario

In recent news, PETA or People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has labelled the popular iconic Super Mario character as a promoter of the fur industry! Apparently in Nintendo's new Super Mario 3D Land game Mario puts on a Tanuki suit and gains the power to glide. But PETA says that is some kind of animal abuse and it has even launched an online game called Mario Kills Tanooki:

Mario Kills Tanooki

Notice the incorrect spelling of Tanuki which clearly shows that PETA is wrong yet again!

Needless to say, this has created quite an uproar in mass media and all over the internet. Here is a clever animated response by NMA.TV:

And here is my response:

David Bowie Comeback Part II

I previously reported on a potential David Bowie Comeback early last year, and now it appears as though it, finally, may happen:

David Bowie may leave troubled EMI 08 Nov 2011

David Bowie's contract ends in January and he is reportedly in talks with Universal Music and Sony.

David Bowie is reportedly on the brink of walking away from EMI, the troubled UK music group in the middle of an auction, after a 15-year relationship in which the label held the rights to the bulk of his back catalogue including classic albums Ziggy Stardust and Space Oddity.

Bowie's contract comes to an end in January and the Financial Times reports today that EMI have declined to comment.

Bowie is apparently in talks with Universal Music and Sony Music, who hold the rights to his output since 1995. Continued...

North Korea Wins World Champion Title!

After all, it is now true what they say and North Korea is Best Korea as the DPRK defeated Japan 1-0 in yesterday's 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers match in Pyongyang. Here are some of the game's highlights:

With this win, North Korea has also been awarded the Unofficial World Champion Football Title:

North Korea 1-0 Japan
15/11/2011, Pyongyang
Scorer: Nam Chol Pak
'Japan’s long reign as UFWC champions came to an end today in Pyongyang, as North Korea became the new unofficial football world champions. Midfielder Nam Chol Pak was the hero for the North Koreans, who fought hard for a deserved victory against an admittedly weakened Japan side. North Korea, ranked just 124th in the world by FIFA, become one of the most unlikely unofficial champions in UFWC history, proving that anything can happen over the course of 90 minutes." Continued...

So could that mean that this is true too?

Liu Bolin: China's #1 'Forever Alone' Artist

While many countries attempt in vain to overthrow Japan as THE #1 WTF superpower, China may now have a lock on the world's #1 Forever Alone artist:

Liu Bolin on The Great Wall, China

Actually, this is one of the many incredible works by China's world-renowned camouflage artist Liu Bolin. His work has been shown in many countries and one of his recent solo exhibitions “The Invisible Man,” was produced by Eli Klein Fine Art and held in New York.

But before asking yourself "Why, China, Why?" Bolin's art is considered by many as a very poignant statement on our world and the anonymous state of so many poverty-stricken people all over the globe. Early in his career, his exhibits were shut down by Chinese authorities making him virtually 'anonymous' but through that experience he developed his art even more. "My pieces talk about the question of the social status of art in general. In my work the artist is hiding to restore his strength and to protect himself," says Bolin.

After graduating with a master's degree from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2001, Bolin became a college teacher but resigned after only four years. He then moved to Beijing's old city of Suo Jia Village and began his fantastic voyage. You can see more of Bolin's work here.
