China's Operation Yao Ming

Ever wondered why China's basketball superstar Yao Ming became so tall? According to Time magazine, he was the result of a decades-long experiment that matched up athletes of extraordinary dimensions and abilities. Ming's father was 2.08 meters or about 6'9" tall and his mother was 1.88 (6'2") which is about a foot taller than the average Chinese man. When 'little' Ming was born he weighed over 5 Kg. (11 pounds) and was twice as large as the average male infant. Here's more on this story:

Is Japan a Racist Country?

How Christmas Dies in Shijiao, China

Via The Atlantic Ever wonder what happens to all those burnt-out Christmas lights after the holidays? The answer is that they end up in Shijiao, China where they are recycled into copper, brass, plastic wire insulation and glass. Afterwards the copper and brass are resold to nearby plants and the remainder is made into slippers which are then sold back to the US and other countries! Here is how it works:
