For the past 10 years or so, professional Japanese Sumo wrestling has seen a steady decline in popularity as it has suffered from fixed matches, links to organized crime, bar room brawls in Roppongi, a marijuana scandal and illegal gambling on baseball etc. The failure to produce a Japanese superstar wrestler has also driven away many long-term fans as well.

So how can Japanese Sumo survive? Well, Taiwan's Next Media Animation TV has some funny ideas:

The Making of "Nothing To Envy" Film

One of the best books written about North Korea's recent history is the award-winning "Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea" by Barbara Demick. In this fast page-turning chronicle, Demick presents a rare up close and personal view into the daily lives of people living within a horrifying and brutal totalitarian nation. Through fifteen years of tyrannical rule and hardship after hardship, the author follows six North Koreans who fall in love, get married, raise families and confide their innermost thoughts and feelings in Demick. As unemployment and famine ravage the land, the six families risk everything to escape.

Now a small award-winning documentary production company named Mosaic Films is in the early planning stages of the production of an animated feature film based on Demick's book. Led by filmmaker Andy Glynne, Mosaic Films is now running a donation campaign in an effort to secure funding for production costs. Supporters for this film include Amnesty International, NK News, Christian Solidarity Worldwide and others. Below is a trailer and a short message from Glynne:

Conan O'Brien vs. Copycat Chinese TV Show 2

Just over a week ago, Conan O'Brien discovered a blatant copyright infringement of his show's opening animation by a Chinese talk show known as “Da Peng’s Chatter.” Then Conan and his production team responded in a tongue-in-cheek comic style by showing the two opening sequences side by side and then claiming:

"What is that? That's insane. That's madness. And to make matters worse its a really weird show." And also "For years now China has been ripping off America with cheap knockoffs, right? ...Well China if you think you can rip off my show, I think I can rip off their show. And let's see how you like it."

Of course, the "Da Peng Chatter" team was watching and they did not get the "American Joke" so then they responded with this hilarious clip (click "CC" button for subtitles):



To which Conan and his team responded with this comic clip:



Well, it is said that "Comedy brings people together" so perhaps this comical exchange will continue. Let's hope so.

In October later this year, after Republican candidate Ron Paul has utterly destroyed Obama in all the national debates, his popularity will skyrocket and he'll become heavily favored to win the upcoming presidential election. And because the GOP hates that so much, all of a sudden, they create a false flag national emergency event of radical and rampant terrorism in the US. Of course, that "indefinitely postpones" the presidential election and the GOP screams "Impeach Obama Now!" But as the violence gets even worse, average Americans seize the opportunity by joining in and thus begins the long-awaited American Revolution #2. Self-appointed Generalissimo Obama attempts to enforce martial law. But the military is now ALL for Ron Paul and tanks start rolling up the White House lawn. D.C. is in CHAOS! In a mad panic the White House tries to evacuate but.....

PETA Attacks Nintendo's Super Mario

In recent news, PETA or People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has labelled the popular iconic Super Mario character as a promoter of the fur industry! Apparently in Nintendo's new Super Mario 3D Land game Mario puts on a Tanuki suit and gains the power to glide. But PETA says that is some kind of animal abuse and it has even launched an online game called Mario Kills Tanooki:



Notice the incorrect spelling of Tanuki which clearly shows that PETA is wrong yet again!

Needless to say, this has created quite an uproar in mass media and all over the internet. Here is a clever animated response by NMA.TV:

Here is NMA TV's animated news story on the separation of Buddy and Pedro, two gay African jackass penguins penguins at the Toronto Zoo:



Note: Buddy and Pedro are not really gay and not Chinese. They are an endangered species that the zookeepers are trying to mate with other female African penguins.

Well, I can "imagine" but I'm not exactly sure "how" this game is supposed to be played!?!?! Also, despite the fact that this video game will be sold "all over the universe" (i.e. in Japan only), somehow it appears as though some magical hero, a panda and some guy's young Japanese girlfriend will apparently save the world! YATTA!!!
