'Comrade Kim Goes Flying' DPRK Movie

Comrade Kim Goes Flying DPRK Movie

Via BBC News September 24, 2012

Three film producers from Belgium (Anja Daelemans), the United Kingdom (Nick Bonner) and North Korea (Ryom Mi Hwa) came together last year and created a romantic comedy movie entitled "Comrade Kim Goes Flying." This film is a heartfelt story of a young North Korean woman seeking her childhood dream of becoming a trapeze artist. This international collaboration involved movie actor training for some performers of the Pyongyang Circus and includes some other well-known movie stars in the DPRK. Unlike most male-dominated, state run stories of success, this North Korean comic drama explores the individual quest of a young heroine striving for self-fulfillment in a unique North Korean setting. The two main characters in the movie Han Jong Sim as Comrade Kim Yong Mi and Pak Chung Guk as Pak Jang Phil, are two young professional circus athletes who went through an accelerated acting class for this motion picture. Below is the official movie trailer:

Comrade Kim Goes Flying premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (tiff) and is now showing at the Pyongyang International Film Festival (PIFF). For more information about this film, please visit the official website.

This horrifying documentary film is based on the life of Shin Dong-Huyk who was born in the North Korean re-education Camp 14 located in Kaechon, South Pyongan Province. Shin had no concept of the world outside the camp until he escaped at the age of 23. To date he is the only known person to have been born within and then successfully escaped from a maximum security camp in the DPRK. He tells a terrifying tale of extremely dangerous labor, daily beatings, inhumane torture, forced abortions, infanticide, public executions and cold-blooded murder committed by the prison guards. This film also includes the testimonies of Oh Yang-nam an ex-secret policeman and Hyuk Kwon a former guard at Camp 14. Below is the official movie trailer:

"Camp 14 - Total Control Zone" will premiere at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival with the schedule of its showing to be announced on August 21st.

North Korea vs South Korea = Worst Korea

Just in time for the North Korean satellite launch, here is a very powerful anti-war film entitled "The Front Line" by director Jang Hun. Through the views of some breathtaking battle scenes and heavy human emotional portrayals during the end of the Korean War, this film shows us the futility and senseless fighting over one hill dividing the North and South Korean armies. Based on a true story, this film is NSFW and NSFL. It is in Korean with English subtitles and was Korea's entry for the Oscars' Best Foreign Film category in 2011. Banksy - The Antics Roadshow

Banksy, the world's most well-known unknown street artist, moved into movie production with last year's Oscar-nominated Exit Through The Gift Shop. This year he recently produced a very funny and entertaining British TV documentary called "The Antics Roadshow." While his movie was mostly about himself and other well-known street artists, his new hit TV film highlights some of the world's most famous and funny anarchic pranksters, trolls, imposters, "comic terrorists" and others whose humorous antics are not always well received, especially by the police! Featured within this one-hour documentary are French comic Remi Gaillard, celebrity pie throwing master Noel Godin, the very controversial Russian performance art collective VOINA and more.
